"What I write is hypnosis/Dealing with high explosives/You take my rhymes in doses, could prove fatal like tuberculosis/Food for the rats and roaches. Gats and holsters. We true soldiers you know this." - Roc Marciano

Roc Marciano will settle for nothing less than greatness.

Of course this may come off as little more than over- the- top ambition, but for this man from Hempstead, Long Island, there is no other choice. Not when you are representing an area that boasts some of rap history's most iconic giants. From Eric B & Rakim and Public Enemy to EPMD, De La Soul and Leaders Of The New School. Following a meeting with Busta Rhymes, Roc Marciano found himself signed to Flipmode Records in 1999. After appearing on classic hits like "The Heist" on Busta's multi-platinum album "Anarchy", multiple songs with the Flipmode Squad and numerous appearances on some of hip-hop's most coveted producers'(Easy Mo Bee, The Beatminerz, The Violator compilation) album's and gracing the Summer Jam stage as a Flipmode member, Roc found himself in limbo without a solo deal. Undaunted, Roc continued to record at his Long Island home studio which became the meeting grounds for his new brain child The UN.

The raw demos soon caught the attention of Matty C (Notorious BIG, Big Pun) and Scott Free ( Wu-Tang Clan) and signed the group to a deal with Jon Rifkin's (Loud Records) and Carson Daly's 456 Entertainment imprint. The group garnered buzz within the underground hip-hop community after a standout performance on legendary producer Pete Rock's critically acclaimed album "PeteStrumentals" (2001). Word spread fast of Roc's lyrical prowess and the act gained notoriety throughout the hip-hop industry as respected producers such as Large Professor, Q-Tip and The Alchemist lined up to work with the buzz heavy MC's. After a short tour in the UK with Pete Rock, the group dropped "UN Or U Out", which some taste makers in the industry deem as a classic. This album allowed Roc to not only show his skills as an MC but also his talents as a producer (Golden Grail; Mind Blowin).

"My palm holds the arm that flips your hummer/That leaves you six feet under/Niggas should feel my hunger".

A brazen Roc Marciano states "Niggas today are all rhyming the same. I come from a place where biting is still not allowed. My sound is without rules! My formula is NO formula! You have to be an original. A one of one!"

With his Fat Beats Records solo debut Roc plans to show the world his raw lyricism and production skills. "I just remember sitting next to the radio trying to tape Marley Marl's Rap attack" adds Roc. "It was all about Rakim, EPMD, Big Daddy Kane, Granddaddy I.U all of that. Back then whoever was the nicest on the mic had to get dealt with. You couldn't just be talking about anything on the mic. That was millions of blunts ago. I wanna bring a little of that feeling back." With songs like "Snow" and "Thug's Prayer" he is well on the road to doing just that. Before, the question was are UN Or U Out, but now it's MARCBERG SEASON. NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!!

Comment: I give thus album 3 stars for the production; lyrically he is average but is better than any new Down South herb that people support! I don't know why he changed the album cover he, could have at least used that cover for the instrumental version.

Comment: why has "Hide My Tears" been cut from this version, thats annoying. seems it would of been better to release an ep with a few other bonus cuts on disc one, this is just going to feel incomplete to me.

Comment: Best album of 2010 and an instant classic. Roc Marcy is a lyricist with a sick flow; like mic geronimo on steroids. The beats are soulful, jazzy, cinematic, gothic, everything that a fan of east coast rap would want. With one guest appearance (We Do It features K.A. who drops a dope solo cut on GZA/Genius's latest, produced by none other than Roc Marciano) he's one of few rappers that can truly hold down an entire LP dolo. He's a true double threat; sick rhymes sick beats (whole album is self produced in case I didn't mention). Been listening to it over and over and it still gets play from me almost 2 years later. I try to cop everything he appears on or produces and I really can't remember the last artist I can say that about. If you haven't copped this album yet you need to; got my fingers crossed that both his albums for 2012 come out on time. Highest recommendation.

Comment: how can anyone who claims to be a fan of real hip hop dislike this album? how is it boring? this album is pure art. Roc Marciano likes to keep the beats to a minimum so he can display those elegants lyrics of his! this album is truly sensational! 10/10. cant wait for Realoaded!

Comment: this is the most solid LP i've heard in years from start to finish, and still knocking hard a year later. takes me back to a time when this raw sound was new and pure. roc manages to bring that sound & style back but revitalizes it - the album never comes off sounding corny or played out. a real breath of fresh air - and this game SERIOUSLY needs it!

Comment: Expected alot from Roc whos been busy for years rocking on the indy circuit. However im feeling a bit dissapointed, the production is very uninspired and heartless. The lyrics lack a certain punch and energy, although a couple nice lines are dropped here and there, overall it feels a bit dated, check the U.N album for some freshness.

Comment: Listen boys and girls. This is how hip hop used to sound like back in the day. Laid back, soulful, blunt smoking hardcore. Not fashion, gay and dumbed downed lyrics. We need a radio station that plays this kind of music. Guarantee you the ratings will be off the scale.

Maybe it's the dopest thing in the world and I'm missing it, but I'm missing it. Don't be afraid to give your true feelings here. Don't say it's dope cause everyone else is. Comment: Beats are pretty boring and sound the same in my opinion....could have done alot better...the beat selection makes you really not care what he has to say....or if he is even rhyming great at all....sorry dudes...not as tight as you think it is...even if it is "raw" and "underground"....

Comment: It's nice to hear original material nowadayz. Roc has great flow but is kind of boring. The songs kind of sound the same and is not diverse enough to really grab my attention. The beats are plain and dull but are not wack. I give this one three stars cause of its dull production. I respect dis guy as an MC but not as a standout producer. Maybe in a couple of years his beat game will step up.

Comment: dope album. two things though. pete rock used that same sample from marcberg on a vast aire track and came out a lot better. and alchemist used the same one as hide my tears and sounds better. #justsayin

Comment: Straight up RAW right here! This is what hip hop REALLY is! Roc brought it on this album with lyrics & those gritty sample laced beats! This is what it need to go back to! Playing these type of joints on the radio like it use to be back in the day! DOPE! Commercial radio can eat a d*ck!

Comment: Excellent album, best of the year so far. Beats are surprisingly good, raw crispy rugged sound throughout. his flow is definitely smoother on the old PR production, but this joint is not nothin to sneeze at. Roc comes correct, but again the production is what will impress.

Comment: Ohh another thing...Only one guest...KA on track 5, "We do It". Lars, no Large Pro, no Pete, no Premo, just raw old breaks that you can feel the dust, shit that none of the producers you talk about can do like roc do... You won't be dissapointed I guess...

Comment: One of the best to drop this year. Production is sick, ill rhymes, all production is handled by Marci himself. Only 1 guest. Prolly beats all other albums out and coming out this year. Prolly album of the year is here already!!!!!!!
