SummaryRecorded at King Tubby's studio in Kingston between '78 and '80 this is one of the first projects that found this aspiring talent behind the boards. Born Hopeton Brown this son of a Kingston, Jamaica TV and Radio repairman first meet King Tubby when buying and trading electronics and parts at Tubby's studio. It was Tubby who gave him his name, commenting on his technical prowess in building and repairing equipment he commented to Bunny Lee, "Damn, this boy must be a scientist." The name stuck, and Scientist was taken on as an assistant at Tubby's studio. Eventually he was given the chance to sit behind the boards and mix, initially on a faithful day when Prince Jammy cut a session short due to exhaustion.
