Product Details

Statik Selektah is an established producer, DJ & radio personality from Lawrence, MA, now residing in Brooklyn, NY.

Statik has released three producer albums: '100 Proof' (2010), 'Stick 2 the Script (2008), & 'Spell My Name Right' (2007). He has also released collaborative albums with Termanology (2010) & Saigon (2009). Statik Selektah has done digital-only EPs as part of his 24 hour album recording series with Freddie Gibbs (2011) & Freeway (2011).

Statik Selektah is now readying his 4th producer album entitled 'Population Control' for an October 25th street date on Showoff/ Duck Down Music.

The 18-track album, entirely produced by Statik, features original songs from Mac Miller, Talib Kweli, Bun B, Chris Webby, Pill, Dom Kennedy, LeCrae, Joell Ortiz, Freddie Gibbs, Brother Ali, Colin Munroe, Sean Price, Styles P, Lil Fame of M.O.P., Reks, Action Bronson, Chace Infinite, Slaine, JFK, Strong Arm Steady, Jon Connor, XV, The Kid Daytona, Termanology, Josh Xantus, Saigon, Jared Evan, Kali, Gameboi, Skyzoo, Chuuwee, Tayyib Ali, Push! Montana, LEP Bogus Boys, Ea$y Money, Nitty Scott MC, Rapsody, Smoke DZA, STS, Dosage, Scram Jones & DJ Babu.

Statik blended a mix of exciting new talent with well respected veteran artists & issued a call for 'Population Control.' He explains the title by saying "every person I meet is a rapper, Dj, or makes beats. This is my way of saying who is legit from the new generation and I added a few of the OGs that still care about our music. This is a different sound from my previous albums. It's fresh and younger, but still very raw. I'm excited to show the older rap heads how dope some of the new guys are, as well as show some of the kids following the new guys how the OGs get down."

For more info on Statik Selektah tune into his weekly radio show on Sirius/XM 'Shade 45' on Thursday Nights from 8PM - 12AM.

Comment: wow, what a brutal listen I had to force myself to make to the end of all the tracks. and looking at the tracklisting it was hard to push on at times. there was a reason I put off listening to this for a month. this was pretty fackin boring. collabing with lecrae, ha, what a fag! he must be too self conscious to show his chipmunk cheek face on a cover again. after that 1982 disaster. haha

Comment: SpikeyJizz you got me fucked up seriously bruh! Again don't where all the homophobic shit you keep mentioning came from and (lol when did I say I was gon' whoop that ass)??? You pretty weak too to be takin' shots and puttin' me on the same level as Soulja Scrub. I'll excuse that ignorant shit you wrote cause I understand that was the best your weak ass could come up with and so what if I made some typo's n*gga, who doesn't? Thought this was UGHH not a 12th grade english class? On another note ladies and gents every good producer has his day but don't count Statik out just because one album didn't move you...that's kinda weak man. Everybody from Primo, Pete Rock, the RZA, Black Milk, Ayatollah, DJ Hi-Tek, 9th, MF Doom, Havoc, The Alchemist, Large Pro, and yes even my man Dilla has had there heyday of wack ass beats. But you don't count a n*gga out and say he's gettin' wack just because one album didn't move you cause as soon as somethin' hits hard again some of you cats will be right there sayin' this n*gga or that n*gga is dope again and that's a dick move man. Show support and look at the real talent showcased behind hip-hop music and it's production in general man. J.U.-ICE

Comment: Am not gonna take this dude below me seriously anymore. First, he's stating that he's not homophobic, yet he called me a faggot. Then he said he's not an internet thug, but then he wants to beat our asses. Third, half the things he is saying doesn't make any sense from he's poor writing. I sense major ignorance from him the same level as Soulja Boy that am not gonna waste my time. Good day, sir and am gone.

Comment: Internet thug certainly I'm not! If I wanted to kick yo ass I definitely could do it without puttin' 1000 words on this site and second cats like you kill me thinkin' that brothas from the south don't know shit about hip-hop music. SpikeyJamez shut the fuck with your comment as well! Don't know where the homophobic shit came from with your lame ass. Third Mr. Pom's Pom's what the fuck does smokin' blunts and beatin' n*ggas ass have to with Statik Selektah's album. Never pull threats on computer cause that's wack but I kinda wish I did meet your wack ass in person so I could see how you really livin'. You kill me with your speeches and quotes and I don't give a fuck you being from NYC...I got kinfolk up there probably before your pussy ass was born. You be killin' me pullin' the N.Y. and South shit and that's why I know you a bitch. SpikeyJamez dismiss ya own ass from the convo and NO this n*gga wasn't voicing an opinion and my only disagreement was just like other n*ggas who have dissed your faggot ass on UGHH...if you aint sayin' nothin' then SHUT THE FUCK UP! I'll give you one to grow on, you and that wack cat ass n*gga Spikey Jamez who tried to get on some intellectual shit but ended up sounded dumb. Be hip-hop fan and definitely, DEFINITELY state your opinion without contraDICKting you 2 dicks!!!

Comment: @Cheerleadkilla, *Claps* Thank you! Finally someone has the courage to say something intellectually reasonable cause am tired of these defensive insecure homophobic internet thugs that have absolute no manner of showing some respect to those who have different opinions. Don't get me wrong, I do like some Statik Selektah's albums, but attacking others based on disagreement is just stupid.

Comment: Ok @ju-ice-First off, I'm glad you understand that you're a nut hugger. The slaine record I'm referring to was not a compilation dumb ass. If you're such a fanboy, you'd know that. And I'm supposed to like term because certain rappers work with him? That's what nyc n*ggas call a "dick rider." Should I respect snow just because mc shan worked with him? Have you ever heard of "connections" and "marketing? Probably not. Have you ever smoked blunts with, or smacked around any well known rappers? Probably not. Records sell good down south, because of country bumpkin' professional ball washers such as yourself.Oh wait. How much music have you put out? LOL!! Stay in your lane. Internet thug.

Comment: Cheerleader bitch was referring to me ladies and gents when he said Nut Huggers fall back. See me and bitch boy have a certain disagreements when it comes to hip-hop music but rather than call me out he'd rather stay behind and call me a lol Nut Hugger. So my question is this Mr. Pom's Pom's...if you don't like Termanology (obviously Staik, M.O.P, Primo, and the Wu-Tang Clan do cause they workin' with the n*gga so who the fuck are you) or any of Statik's music then why the fuck did your pussy ass think you would like this album if all you did was diss it? See I only make an example out of fuckers like you and that second bitch at the bottom cause I don't understand why you even lol "VOICING AN OPINION" (which your not) when you don't even like his shit? Oh my my fault ALL STATIK'S COMPLIATION ALBUMS ARE WACK EXCEPT THE SHIT HE DID WITH SLAINE. Lol, dumb ass that is a compilation! GET-THE FUCK-OFF-OF-UGHH AND SHUT THE FUCK UP! J.U.-ICE

Comment: Track #9. That's about it for me. In my opinion, statik is inconsistent with the beats. This sounds like watered down trash to me. The album he did with slaine was hard. That's his best work in my opinion. The saigon album he did wasn't bad either. But termanology is wack, along with all statik's compilation records. Again, that's my opinion. Nut huggers fall back.

Comment: So far on the previews of this album feels very...underwhelming. The sound production is very "one-note" style and also the subject matters feels like I've already been there, done that. I can easily buy other artists' music that saids better things about the issue of police corruption and other topics, but really this record did not impress me that much. Sorry I tried to get into this album, but am not feeling it. Lets hope it grows on me once I hear the full-fledge work. P.S. Enough with the homophobia hatreds. Just ignore someone else stupid opinions and move on.

Comment: Yo what up D-Stroi! Real talk man I'm like, if a n*gga don't like the album then say you don't like the album and leave it at that. All that shit about the n*gga's looks is bullshit. Ignorance begets ignorance so I had to get ignorant on the n*gga for that comment. Anyway yeah man this is a different sound for Statik cause he got a lot of New Jacks but I still bang it and support what he's tryin' to do with hip-hop music. Waitin' on that instrumental album though! I like #'s 2, 5, 9, and 16! J.U.-ICE
