Item Summary
Asked about what to expect from this collaboration with Edo G, Masta Ace fires back without hesitation; "people are gonna be surprised when they hear the mixture of styles. We both have a different approach. It's like the old Reeses commercial... Ya got peanut butter walking down the street. Coming from the other direction is chocolate. Someone trips and blam, a peanut butter cup was born. Something new and amazing was created that no one had ever thought of!"

When one thinks of Boston and New York the first thing that comes to mind is the infamous Red Sox/Yankees rivalry. But this time when Boston meets New York it's a collaborative effort to bring the world one of the tightest Hip Hop efforts of 2009. Two of the games most exceptionally creative and well-rounded artists, Edo. G and Masta Ace bring the two cities together with Arts & Entertainment. Like their home cities, these artists have a long history and have influenced the world.

Hailing from Brownsville, Brooklyn, Masta Ace got his proper introduction setting off the quintessential Hip Hop posse cut, "The Symphony." Not long after, Edo G's debut Life Of A Kid In The Ghetto and it's lead single "I Got To Have It" went to the top of the Billboard Rap Singles chart with heavy rotation on Yo! MTV Raps. Both Ace and Ed have continued to stay relevant, tour the globe, and influence up and coming artists everywhere. Joining the duo on Arts & Entertainment is a notable list of featured artists from NYC and the Bean including Posdanus of De La Soul, Large Professor, DJ Spinna, KRS-One, Mr. Lif, Akrobatik and Chester French. Production from Double O of Kidz in the Hall, M Phases, DJ Supreme One amd Frank Dukes round out this collabo from two mighty Hip Hop icons.

Comment: Music Man for a Kid in the Ghetto: what a good blend of two veterans cats getting together to re-tool a unique concept of non stereotype hip hop creativity? What you get it is classic lil young album with white dancing involve that stimulate body and mind without losing any of his main target and message. The production is up to poin and the lyrics are well crafted like a an antique. The bottom line is if you consider yourself serious about hip hop you will definitely listen to it and cope their previous material as well!

Comment: Nice review DJ Shaman for real. The MC skills have indeed outweighed the beats here. Lars has also expressed a very acute observation in an earlier blog if my memory serves me correctly when he stated that Ace has outdone EDO in terms of lyricism and flow on this particular release! Also why has'nt anybody realised or commented on DJ Shaman??? I kinda noticed straight away but has now plucked up the courage to enquire. CL Smooth release 'American Me' had a DJ Shaman as back up. This is a nice project indeed as I copped a vinyl copy. Mind you not as tight as the legendary Pete Rock/Cl material but still decent and cruelly slept on by the golden era/boom bap cats!! If by any small chance this is you much love for real!!! Peace!!

Comment: The album is an example of how Hip Hop is an art and how it should entertain. Unfortunately, today's listeners are hypnotized by today's radio stations. Thus, young listeners are not fine tuned to Real Hip Hop. The albums flows from beginning to end and the message is HD clear. How many albums do this? Both MC's are raw. The skills are so powerful that it out weighs the beats. This is why many think that the beats lack an edge or hardness. If you don't agree listen to it again and again till your head blows up. Some might need pot to desensitize your pre-construct notion of today's Hip Hop. You'll know what I mean when you can't fight the feeling. Master Ace and Master Edo show case Jedi rhyme tricks. Get the album its classic richness!

Comment: For real hiphop heads n real people who are watching thier money and who it goes too in this recession this is the best purchase you can make. However I was expecting a lil more. Only because from Take a look around too Long Hot Summer is almost impossible too top.so you got too give a pass. This is the only album I would invest 20 bucks in all of 2009.

Comment: In response to the ED OG verse on 'here I go again' your sophomore effort Roxbury 02119 was a boom bap classic back in 93, despite fools claiming you fell off. The main reason album sales were lower than expected was as you know down to poor promotion and no vinyl release. Therefore I was bagging bootleg promos for the crates before I copped 2 mint rare originals. Mercury stitched you up big time and Jemini suffered the same fate in 95 as I'm sure you're more aware of than myself. Sorry to ramble on but in the small chance you get to read this you along with Ace are amongst my all time idols. Always kept it real and never sold out!!! Thankyou!! God bless!!!

It brings me back to the good old days when real lyrics was the order of the day not some Cat in The Hat shit.Beats were bangin and they both had somethin real to talk about instead of that bull I hear nowadays.A great cd for the archives!

Comment: This album is somewhat of a disappointment considering who wrote & produced this. The tracks are all solid with the exception of the one with Chester French which was an absolute waste of studio time in my opinion & half the track list being skits kind of takes away from the overall feel of the album.

Comment: I got this with the intentions of hearing some good hard boom bap type ish as these two are known to deliver in that department for the most part.. But there's hardly any of that ruffness on here at all.. Other than that, the constant mellow vibe carries well on some tracks, just don't cop if ur expectin a raw hard hittin album like I was or you'll be dissapointed.. I'm mad cuz they didn't even put 1 hard song on here and everyone knows a GOOD album should be well rounded enough to at least have a few of em..

Comment: Humm... I'm an Edo G fan and a Masta Ace fan since approximately 1990... And I hate to give a bad opinion. But seriously... Am I the only one here thinking this album sucks ??? Mostly because of the sub-par production. Only a few decent tracks and that's it in my opinion. Lyrics are dope as usual. Flows are OK but getting lazier. Come on, where is "The Truth Hurts" ? And where is "Disposable Arts", "A Long Hot Summer" ?

Comment: They aren't saying Lil jon is real hip-hop... They say "Lil Jon with little fame, Real hip-hop not about your little chain." I can't believe you serriously thought they said that Lil Jon is real hip-hop... Learn to understand lyrics better newjack.

Comment: is putting "lil" in front of your name the cool thing to do for all these newer artists? im my opinion anyone with "lil" in front of their name is wack as far as the music is concerned. this album though, seems like it could be supa dope!

Comment: This is either gonna be very good, or very bad. They should make some decent music. I wonder if KRS' appearence may seem a little tired after he's just done the album with Buckshot.
