Name: J Thomas (Posted: 5/3/2008 8:38:00 PM; Partial IP: .181.74.71) Location: Southern New Hampshire Comment: What this album really does is bring you back to a time and place, giving you that back in the day feeling. They grew up on legends, so you can hear those same legends when they come off over 9th's productions. They are in no way shape or form trying to be the next "insert name of legendary so and so forth." It's just their rendition of good music. Don't read to far into the next savior's of Hip Hop blah zay. Little Brother is just making what they feel is good music and having fun with it. |
Name: camade (Posted: 4/18/2008 8:27:00 PM; Partial IP: 81.160.166) Location: sandersville ga usa Comment: their classic first album.i was da first one on my block bumpin this hot shit telling everyone that these cats are serious. big up 2 pooh, phonte, and 9th wonder from your biggest fan who happens 2 be an emcee(not signed yet).keep doing ya"ll thang. one!!! |
Name: Keen_the_lyrical_07 (Posted: 3/20/2004 1:32:00 PM) Summary: "pure Hip-hop" Comment: Little Brother's chemistry is golden. Pooh & Phonte's lyrics are mad clever for example " Forever stain in your memory like white shirts and punch" you gotta love it. And 9th Wonder's beats take you into a trance. They kinda remind me Of A.T.C.Q..Little Brother are wild nice and it's a reflection of that on 'The Listening'. |

Name: D1NOnly (Posted: 9/4/2003 12:04:00 AM) Summary: Brilliant Comment: This album is on fire and to whoever is hating on this group and their production obviously doesn't understand the true essence of hip-hop. So you can take your negative attitudes and uneducated rear-ends to the alley dumpster. And you can take that to the bank! |
Name: mecbar (Posted: 6/29/2003 6:01:00 PM) Summary: Overrated Comment: Don't get me wrong this is a good album but everywhere I look they are being built up to be the next Pete Rock & CL or the next A Tribe Called Quest. They aren't even close. This is a nice debut but whoever is comparing them to legends in this game must be on crack! |
Name: mushmouf (Posted: 5/13/2003 12:15:00 PM) Summary: The Best In Years Comment: This album is by far one of the best things to come out in years. I know a few cats who are working with them now and Phonte, Pooh and 9th are cool n*ggas- cop this for real!

Name: brou2222 (Posted: 5/7/2003 4:16:00 PM) Summary: Fire Comment: The listening is the way hip-hop is meant to be. Little Brother are about to blow. I read the record report in the source and gained some interest, after hearing the CD was convinced that this trio is nice; NC should be grateful to have them reping the state. Keep that ***t up Little Brother. With all the wack music that has been dropping lately it's refreshing to hear a CD like this that you can let ride from start to finish. |
Name: APone (Posted: 4/25/2003 11:00:00 AM) Summary: Worth Listening To Comment: Phonte, Pooh, and 9th Wonder have brought back hip-hop at its essence. I play this album from start to finish. Love this shhhh. A "must grab" album, from a group straight out of Carolina.

Name: Kondor03 (Posted: 4/21/2003 12:58:00 AM) Summary: So Fabulous.... Comment: This album will take you back to the time when the Native Tongues were on top of their game. Incredible, thoughtful lyrics over bangin', soulful beats. If you have a true understanding and knowledge of hip-hop and its history then you will DEFINITELY appreciate this album. If you were craving that real sh*t, then do yourself a favor and cop this NOW!

Name: judgement81 (Posted: 4/11/2003 2:39:00 PM) Summary: Little Brother Lp Comment: Yo, these dudes are ill. Today was the second day I listened to them and I feel their the dopest new group I’ve heard this year. Definitely going to cop that album.

Name: Effez (Posted: 3/28/2003 8:09:00 AM) Summary: Okay, Player Comment: I think it's a nice debut. Both MCs and 9th Wonder do a good job, but I gotta say that the album suffers from the fact that 9ths drums always sound the same. You're getting a little tired from that boom bap on the second half of |
Name: kosyne (Posted: 2/26/2003 7:45:00 AM) Summary: Just So Damn Fresh! Comment: I couldn’t ask for anything more; the beats are on point and some nice witty lyrics from Phonte & Pooh. May not be your kinda thing but I can play this start to finish; its on a real laidback head-nod tip.

Name: g.suede (Posted: 2/21/2003 1:04:00 PM) Summary: All Around Well Done Album Comment: Reminds me of A Tribe Called Quest with a little bit more hunger to handle their business. Simply one of the better albums I have heard this year.

Name: Hip-Hop Fan (Posted: 2/19/2003 11:07:00 AM) Summary: Hip-hop In A Great Way! Comment: Big Pooh and Phonte bring lyrics back and forth like Q-tip and Phife did. 9th wonder produces soulful beats reminiscent of the Ummah. |
Name: mohzart (Posted: 2/18/2003 10:09:00 PM) Summary: Back In The Days When I Was Young.... Comment: Who are you Stank Da Dank? I think you need a hip-hop history lesson. Either that or you're beggin’ for one. Listen, these guys took what seems to be a lack luster year (thus far anyway) in hip-hop, and brought back many of the missing ingredients. Many of their songs are reminiscent of Mecca & The Soul Brother- early to mid ‘90s hip-hop. And it's a welcome change to hear artists make music they love.

Name: inter71 (Posted: 2/14/2003 7:57:00 PM) Summary: Finally Something Fresh And New. Comment: I haven't been excited about anything new in hip-hop for months. I went to these guys' site and was blown away. Well done.

Name: Stank Da Dank (Posted: 2/3/2003 3:19:00 AM) Summary: Nothing Special Comment: Did they even read the lyrics? What is significant? What are they bringin’ across?

Name: JeanPierre (Posted: 2/2/2003 7:49:00 PM) Summary: The Best Hip-hop Album Period! Comment: At first listen this album caused nostalgia- these brothers deserve a number-one medallion. Tracks like “The Yo Yo” and “For You” really display the power of what these three can do. It has got a lot of soul and flavor while the beats are kinda dreamy. Lyrics run circles around my head, making me queasy, but Little Brother make it look so easy.
