Good music needs to be defended and promoted, especially since so much god-awful muzack pollutes our society from all angles, and unfortunately most people eat it up, or just shake their heads and say hip hop is dead or no good music comes out anymore. I completely understand how many wouldn't feel this album, because it's abstract and weird, qualities I look for in my music- I like to be challenged and hear things that haven't been done before, not down with people re-creating shit that's already been done before, better, like all this shit that 'keeps it real' but offers nothing new or original. Doseone is most definitely a rapper, though I wouldn't pigeonhole him to being just that. Shit doesn't have to rhyme every bar to be ill hip hop, in fact I think it's kinda more slammin' when emcees toss out convention and break the 'rules'. themselves is on some other-dimensional, post-structuralist next level type of shit, so I can overstand how it's over most peoples' heads. lots of people want their music to be simple and fit a cerain format, which is kewl, but this transcends that, which is what I look for in music much of the time. | Name: Jak (Posted: 12/16/2009 8:24:00 AM; Partial IP: .221.71.74) Location: barrington Comment: a-ron, good music doesn't have to be defended. this shit is bad hip hop, but to you it is good experimental music. doseone isn't a rapper. 1) his words don't rhyme | Name: a_ronious (Posted: 12/8/2009 8:14:00 PM; Partial IP: 54.209.159) Location: UGHH World HQ Comment: don't pay attention to these douchebags with the one star reviews- where my Themselves fans at- review this classic fuck them microchipped sheeple who only like what other people tell them is good | Name: proto (Posted: 12/5/2009 7:53:00 PM; Partial IP: .37.107.75) Location: nj Comment: i wish bonecrusher would throw these fags off a bridge. | Name: a_ronious (Posted: 11/20/2009 7:49:00 PM; Partial IP: 54.209.159) Location: UGHH World HQ Comment: Best album of the year. Best Themselves album. Perhaps my favorite Doseone album. I have been waiting for something like this from this camp for a minute- CrownsDown embodies ideas and love for golden era hip hop [its theme is the ten commandments of hip hop], without being derrivative, while still abstract, genre-bending and completely unique and new. Dose & Jel flip maaad styles and rip them all on this perfect album. Motherfuckers are always talking about how they're all burnt out on hip hop and how no one is doing anything new, but here it is- unfortunately most heads will be too close-minded to even give this a chance, but those that will gotta feel this. CrownsDown is that next shit, yet with an old soul. I can dig how some heads can't feel the more out-there shit from these guys, though I do myself, but CrownsDown is that real hip hop. Don't sleep!!!!!!!!! | Name: goofTroop (Posted: 11/7/2009 4:53:00 PM; Partial IP: 106.248.23) Location: your mom's bed Comment: this shit sucks.
