I loved both O.C and A.G back in the day when D.I.T.C was dropping hammers in the underground. O.C's LP "Jewelz" is one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time; I think it was also one of the most slept on LPs ever. A.G has always been sick. The Madlib produced "Frozen" is sick and I love the song "Weed Scented" with Guru and Primo. Oh and his collabo with Sadat X Ju Ju and Marco Polo on "Port Authority" was straight science. These dudes are good emcees and I hope this is a classic. |

I even dude most of that new Cormega Album but my point is that through the 90s literally every couple of weeks someone produced and or dropped science. Their were DJ'S that were known for dropping shit. I guess your right when you say that hip hop is not completely dead cause I'm still digging just waiting for some of that good old underground to drop. I just hate getting all hyped up for a something that ends up being just a dust collector on my shelf. Thanks for the response, keep hope alive.

I agree completely with what you said except that hip hop isn't dead man. There is good music out there, but you will have to dig usually. I get what you mean in regards to legends hooking up and making sub par material. Because that is the case with Edo G and Masta Ace. That album was good but could have been better. I hope this album will do exactly what it's supposed to do. |

The UNDERGROUND scene isn't what it used to be, the beats and rhymes will NEVER mirrored what we all experienced through the 90's. I'm tiered of getting all hipped up to go run out and by another CD thinking that it will match up to what was, but let's face it... what was was and what is is , even with to of the greatest team of MC'S and producers believe me BANG FOR BANG it's just not the same. Hip Hop is truly dead and has been for a long time. It's a shame because I only wish we could take it back to the good old days when just about everything that came out on the underground scene was dope. I've got multiple recorded tapes with the Baker Boys on their Friday Night Flavor shows where every weekend you knew that someone would kill it with some dope sh_t... But like I said what was was and what is is.. hip hop is truly dead. UPS TO BIG.L , REST IN PEACE... |

I think obviously the underground which has been around for a minute with great and notable emcees with heart and who kill it on the mic day in and day out. But I think even most recently that the underground scene has some fire under their asses and putting out some dope albums. look at what has come out within the past 3 or 4 months alone (ex. blaq poet, double barrel, dj js-1, skyzoo, raekwon, cormega, apathy, masta ace & edo g and soon to be o.c and A.g. im loving it. but yeah "online stars" is the way to go apparently to the mainstream heads or you wont even get a look. heres the recipe these days: get a colorful image with some ringtone type sound, mixed with a little auto tune and a myspace page. look at the brightside, all you need now is mediocre lyrics about, $, biddies, and 80 inch rims on your escalade |

You need a fan base buzz before they sign you these days. So I STRONGLY disagree that "mass media" has anything to do with it. In fact, mass media is dying because the internet is taking over. Television stations and print media is dying folks....no more excuses to get your sh*t now..... |

(Posted: 9/24/2009 6:23:00 PM; Partial IP: .24.171.47) Location: Columbus, Ohio Comment: TruSchoolDefenda You are right, that is why we need to keep doing what we can until we ahve the proper backing. LARS I have to disagree about the internet thing, we have that but The mass majority of people won't see it unless they are looking for it. The media doesn't have choice because they are all caught up in what TruSchoolDefenda said. That is why we need to keep pushing for someone at the top that loves REAL HIP HOP to start pushing it whether it is a ceo of nationwide ins or a billionaire Hip Hop head. It will happen I am sure, I just hope sooner than later. God Bless!!!!! |

All they need is to record their stuff and get it out online. |
Name: TruSchoolDefenda (Posted: 9/23/2009 3:23:00 PM; Partial IP: 38.213.119) Location: ILLADELPH Comment: Hey Rob..I'm sure many share the same vision as you, I know I do at least. Unfortunately though, all mass media outlets("ones in charge with the funds") are government sanctioned and therefore the majority of control is in the governments hands. And their best interest is to keep society as dumb as possible, therefore easier to control. People becoming intelligent and uniting is the worst threat possible to their power. So they are in fact CENSORING Hip Hop, but in a less obvious way, doing so by "pushing" all this mindless garbage music, which ends up putting the concious meaningful music out of sight. These radio stations arent changing cuz it boils down to one simple thing: they care more about money than they do Hip Hop culture. They're not like u or me. They're under the governments spell. The whole cultures been infiltrated. They've commercialized every element too. But yeah man, we gotta take it back. Somehow, someway... |

It is too hard to make good albums and to throw random people in the mix will not work. There has to be chemistry... without chemistry, you have trash. Many of these artists don't make music like they used to, so hopes of yester-year's magic to come to life in 2009 is moot. |
Name: Rob. (Posted: 9/22/2009 3:29:00 PM; Partial IP: .24.171.47) Location: Columbus, Ohio Comment: I think all the great artist like Craig G, Large Pro, Sadat X, Lil Dap, Guru, BDK, Kool G Rap, etc should come together and make a 3 disk album with production from, Biz Markie, Lord Finesse, DJ Premier, etc. Maybe they can get something together and blow the world away with knowledge and righteousness just like they did in the 80s and 90s. I can't wait until I get a million because I would fund it all myself and give the earnings to help kids and young adults understand more about REAL HIP HOP. I would do it through media outlets and showcase the artist I love and have learned all my wisdom from every since 1983! That is whats missing-unity and love for the music.check operation take back hip hop. That message and a lot of artist with their point of view would be heaven sent. If You feel the same way then PLEASE talk to Your local radio station and ask why they continue to poison our youth with mindless garbage all day. The ones inn charge with the funds should act now and stop sleeping on the REAL Hip Hop. iT ISN'T GOING TO CHANGE UNTIL SOMEONE CHANDES IT. gOD bLESS. |

If any guest have Craig G, Large Pro, Sadat X, etc. We need a solid album to rock from trk 1 to the end. I am sick of great artist bringing out songs with complaining artist(emo rappers) or the sell outs. Keep it the same and only change with the times, or else get dropped like dime-Big L. You never hear Lord Finesse or the rest of the D.I.T.C. complaining how hard it is so I hope this album at least stays true to what we all know and love. |
