Item Summary
ARE YOU READY TO GET CARRIED AWAY WITH PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS??????????

Fresh off major 180,000+ festival gigs at Coachella and Bonnaroo (“Best Performance. Period.” – SPIN MAGAZINE), the highly acclaimed and everyone’s favorite duo, People Under The Stairs are back with their 7th artist album, “Carried Away.” Fans of PUTS records know that unlike other hip hop / rap artists, there are no outside producers or of-the-moment guest emcees. People Under the Stairs are a completely true independent hip hop duo. Beats, rhymes, scratching, and chorus are all done by PUTS’ members Thes One and Double K themselves.

Now over ten years and seven albums deep, People Under the Stairs have built a genre within hip hop of their own. Upbeat, crazy, balls to the wall and ridiculous “Carried Away” follows in true PUTS tradition. 1 part(y) Beastie Boys / 1 part Public Enemy and 1 part Radiohead, the new album was produced old school classic style in the same fashion as Rick Rubin (Def Jam Era) or Dust Brothers (Grand Royal, Pauls Boutique). Recorded entirely on reel to reel with tons of rock samples, distorted vocals, lots of cussing, drum machines, delays, yelling, the works. Wrap that all up with nods to A Tribe Called Quest (Double K does one hell of a Phife Dog), Beastie Boys, Beer, and Luther Vandross and you’re guaranteed to get carried away!

On top of all that, the 1st pressing of the physical release will be wrapped around a die cut O-card and a fold out “PUTS Party Safety Guide” poster. Each CD also comes with a special VIP (Very Important Partier) lanyard that will allow fans to acquire exclusive material at the upcoming People Under the Stairs World Tour kicking off in September (stay tuned for dates on www.omrecords. com). For those who are not able to attend a PUTS show, the VIP lanyard will also be good for exclusive online unreleased material. All these items craft a certified premium physical package that no true fan can deny!

Be prepared for People Under the Stairs to bring back true hip hop like only they can do!

The 1st Edition CD Package includes a Die Cut O-Card, a Fold Out Party Guide Poster/ Board Game, and a VIP (Very Important Party) Card that allows you to redeem things at live shows and download free ringtones.

Comment: I fully agree with BEEZER, so I'll retract my last statement. Of course, I have heard plenty of punchlines and good substance in the verses. When I said "nothin stands out lyrically", I was more so comparing them to today's top lyrical heavyweights. Artists like Lupe, Raekwon, and Nas who's lyrics "stand out" more so than the beats. PUTS are DEFINITELY lyrically sound, but it's their fresh beats that represent the cream of the crop.

Comment: this album has the typical and outside of the box trax for tha p. its definitely a good mixe of old and new or old vs new. trax like down in la, hit the top, check the vibe, DQMOT drive my point home. the vinyl even has that all good things track--very introspective listen. anyway, on the real name any group\artist in hip hop that has put out 7 quality albums. music isnt a joke to them and they take the art very seriously--even though its mostly feel good and party raps. those of u who say lyrically nothin stands out u need to have another listen--tons of one-liners (as usual), heart felt lyrics, what more can u want? if ur expecting super mega rhymes go listen to can-i-bus.

Comment: There's nothin that really stands out lyrically, but their flow is smooth and their beats are bangin. I admit, the video for "Trippin At The Disco" got me up out my seat and two-steppin'. I'm glad to see that there is still some fresh Hip-Hop comin out of the West Coast and I am proud to add this to my collection...

Comment: Some classic P tracks on here: Listen, Trippin at the Disco, Down in LA, and Carried Away. Also a quite a few that shouldn't have made the cut. Same as the last album. Beats just missed me on those tracks.

Comment: PUTS has been putting it down for a minute. Think back to Bigga B's Unity forum. While others from the era have either fell wayward or fell short, these two have continued to perfect their craft while building their fanbase. P.S. Darin Gloe eats big kox.
