Item Summary
Returning with his first LP since his departure from Shady Records (where he was one of the label's top selling artists), Obie Trice readies a new street LP, Special Reserve, which finds him collaborating solely with rising producer MoSS.

With a very strong fanbase, a strong presence on commercial radio and having sold in excess of 1.5 million albums to date (including the certified Platinum Cheers), Special Reserve is a departure from Obie's typical sound, as a wide range of gritty audio mosaics are provided by MoSS, as he continues to not only raise his profile, but the bar he's set from his previous work with Raekwon, Ghostface, Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, AZ, Slum Village, Havoc, Kool G Rap, KRS-One/Buckshot etc. MoSS is also the first producer signed to the legendary DJ Premier's "Works of Mart" production company.

Comment: Obie still will never top the rare 12in single "Well Known Asshole" thats the banger!! He spits hard, but needs the primo type beats behind him..no standout tracks on this one agree..

Comment: Definitely not "wack". It's got some hot lyrics and gritty sounds, but I will say there isn't any songs that truly stand out.

Comment: solid release. this is material recorded in 97 to 2000, obie always comes strong with the lyrics, both his shady releases cheers and second round's on me were bangers, obie fans get this, although jack my dick is questionable, apparently obie would rather jerk off than get some pussy????

Comment: Another great mc rapping on weak, underproduced beats.Track 11 is cool, other than that, this is one many albums produced this year with one or two good tracks...the rest is garbage...He needs to spit on some grimey, dirty, hard Blaq Poet/Primo type beats...Not this watered down crap...the beats sound basic,no heat whatsoever.. I hope 2010 I can purchase more than 5 cd's that I can listen to from beginning to end without skipping tracks.....

Comment: This is a dope album. Get it. Ive heard of obie trice, but really didn't get to hear any of his songs that much. Every track is a banger. Now I consider him a real mc with skills. I was definitely not disappointed.

Comment: This album is a solid effort. I'm not really stuck on 90's hip hop doe. This sounds like a throghback album w/ a little new school. I would say this album is for all of the "Hip Hop is Dead" type cats. I was expecting better work from Moss. Dream breaks were cool. Fake ass vsti sounding guitars, voices, organs, and brass were a fail IMO. Jack My Dick wtf is this mess. Why the fuck would a man want to hear about another man Jacking his dick? Fucking weirdo type shit here. Took it from a 4 to a 3 star. Major homo fail.

Comment: I was curious as to how the album would sound without Dre or Em's input and I was pleased at how tight it is. I've always liked his flow and these beats compliment him well. I never got into his first two joints but I can say that this will get mad play in the ride & on the Zune for a long while! Real mc skills from a real mc is all I ask for when it comes to hiphop

Comment: Solid album. Anything Obie touches is dope! I don't why Em released Trice he was the most talented Emcee on Shady. It don't make sense. This my list as far as Detroit emcees go. 1 Royce da 5'9" 2 Eminem 3 Obie Trice
