Item Summary
Vast Aire is from the galaxy of Harlem. Karniege is from the galaxy of Brooklyn. They Collided in Washington Irving High School and formed a decade long aliance that would lead to a freindship in life and partnership in mic recking. Empire State was shaped over a three year period, it unravels a unique perspective, documenting not only personal change between the two emcees but also the changes in the streets of New York City. From Poverty, to the September 11th attacks, to the abuse of Hip Hop culture in general, Empire State stands strong as a snapshot of the city. This Album is the voice of a city that never sleeps being recited by emcees who should never be slept on.

Comment: Some lackluster songs but the majority of it bangs. Karniege outshines Vast in the majority of songs but overall a good album from both MCs. Solid album.

Comment: Karniege steals the show on this album. He'll make everyone quickly stop questioning a Cannibal Ox album because he holds it down. Vast Aire comes off on the album as usual. Production is flavor, one of the few dope albums of the first quarter.

Comment: Very nice offering from former jukie Vast and longtime accomplice Karniege.... Gives The Cold Vein a run for its money for sure. Production is newschool NY mafioso at its best, with a little bit of that rza swing to keep your head bouncin. Vast's rhyme style has clearly matured sinve TCV and Look Mom... and Karniege provides the same contrast as Vordul Mega but with a more complex rhyme scheme and smoother flow. definitely worth a check if you ever liked vast or the new school NY sound.

Comment: I like Vast Aire's solo joint, and Karniege is probably the more talented emcee out of the two, but I wasn't really feeling this album. It's far from a classic, nice rhymes and beats nothing groundbreaking.

Comment: I have heard the advance of this Empire State album and is insane. Not sure who did the production, but the beats are epic and classic visual flow by Vast, with gutter flows by Karniege. A great balance.
