    Summary

With a magnificent video that is racking up YouTube hits with break neck speed, and backed by "Turn It Up" featuring Lyrics Born on the B side, this essential 12" is out of February 9th and paves the way for the LP in fine style.

Australia's finest, The Bamboos, are widely regarded as one of the best deep funk bands on the planet, up there with Sharon Jones' Dap Kings in the danceability, authenticity and cool stakes and - oh ok, if you insist we go there - bandleader Lance Ferguson more than rivals your Mark Ronsons in the 'busiest man in funk', 'pop star looks' (cheeky Home And Away bad boy, anyone?) and 'crossover cover version genius' categories. As well as producing Kylie Auldist's solo work, Ferguson's extra-curricular activities include electronic production work under his Lanu moniker, which will see hi release a trio of LPs in the next 18 months. The Bamboos' cover of Kings Of Leon's indie smash "King Of The Rodeo" obtained radio play on KCRW, KEXP to name a few, and its video has scored over 100,000 YouTube hits; and - another track from their 'Side Stepper' album, but at the opposite end of the musical spectrum - their "Amen Brother" cover had drum 'n' bass dancefloors and forums buzzing with excitement.

Having been championed from the outset by the likes of GarthTrinidad, Kenny Dope, Monk One, Bobbito Garcia, Mark Lamarr, Jeremy Sole, Kevin Cole and many other tastemakers, The Bamboos' albums consistently sell in the tens of thousands, and each one brings them to the attention of a new crowd. With regular guest vocalist Kylie Auldist (plus a first revelatory, falsettoed, Mayer Hawthorne-esque foray into singing by Ferguson himself on one number), The Bamboos delight in infusing the tight, instrumental dancefloor style they have nailed so perfectly with potent dashes of anything from Motown, Mod and boogie soul to straight-up, ballsy, vocal funk sass.
