Comment: SMH @ LARS you don't even smoke dude!!! You might as well go on ahead and twist one up on "The Race" ----> "n*ggas flexin' hard with no bars, they got weak service / Keep verses (versus)... Mortal Kombat! / Look at my ring, if I ain't ballin' bitch, then what you call that? / Nothin' but net!!! / And back cause I NEVER LEFT! / I did everything right, n*gga better yet... / Rollin' bomb for the n*ggas that's around us / Somethin' like a contractor buildin from the ground up! / now just... OHHHH OHHHHHH!!!" Dope azz punches on that one ----> "Cause we are... Young! Gifted! / Not to mention, out here makin' muthafuckin' MILLIONS!!! / Yeah I said it! Muthafuckin' MILLIONS!!! / Got my money up, I'm in the BUILDINNNNNNNNNNNG!!!" I think Wiz Khalifa and Kid Cudi go head to head on creative lyrical styles...

Comment: I gave this album one more listen, but I'm just not feeling it, and I want wiz to win but this mainstream atlantic record sound is not cutting it, the production is to tecno garbage, wiz singing is killing me, lyric is what it is, ok not strong. I'm still feeling the too short cut, I can relax and smoke to that cpt style but the rest of the album is whatever, I guess I'm to underground for this shit, hope full he come harder on the next album. The new albums on this site I'm feeling is shit like has lo, reks, ras kass, and joel ortiz

Comment: i listened to this and reks new one the same day, two completely different albums on different sides of the hip-hop world, this album is good for what it is, enjoyable mainstream music, khalifa hasn't that knack for writing catchy ass mainstream hooks and fuck it I love a good mainstream album every now and then, wiz isn't out there to blow you away with his lyrical content but you can't deny this shit is pretty damn good

Comment: This album is HOT like the fire at the end of my spliff!!! Mad props to Wiz on this release! Yo D-Stroi, that "Black And Yellow" concept is EASY to understand... Pittsburgh is in the BUILDING!!! (i.e. Steelers, bruh) The same hometown love and recognition as Biggie jumpin on stage chantin "WHERE BROOKLYN AT?! WHERE BROOKLYN AT?!" or... Lupe Fiasco chantin "I'm from the city in the MIDWEST, best city in the whole wide world!" or... (One more relevant to me personally...) Petey Pablo jumpin on stage chantin "NORTH CAROLINA!!! Come on and RAISE UP!!!" But I digress... This Rolling Papers album IS dumbed down slightly compared to his older mixtape work. But like LARS said earlier, his transition to the mainstream scene is a lot like Wale and his official debut album, cuz that ol' Wale & 9th Wonder "Back To The Feature" mixtape was a high-lyrical classic that would've gave a lot of underground artists a run for their money... But I enjoy everything about this album, ESPECIALLY that track "The Race"... Holy shit, dude! I definitely played that one like 4 or 5 times over the first time I heard it! As for the rest of the album, Wiz's vocal delivery is on point and the smooth-vibe production is consistent throughout. DEFINITELY NOT BETTER than Lupe's Lasers album! But what you have is a young cat enjoying life in the fast lane, providing his listeners with a breath of fresh air. I can't hate on that at all...

Comment: Not a fan of Wiz, but I have to admit, for an Atlantic record this album is pretty decent. Definitely better that Lupe's weak ass "Lasers". 3,5 stars.

Comment: The great young hope, into he sign to atlantic, its good I listen to this album before I bought it, unlike lupe, too pop for me, but I can say I'm feeling the too short song, but like lupe this album is garbage, deal or no deal is my introduction to wiz music, at least I like half that album. I only like one song off this new album. Instead of blaming the artist, fuck atlantic records

Comment: Lars how do you give an album 5 stars(instant classic) and admit that album has shit tracks? The album was made solely by the record label. They changed nearly everything about him, from what and how he raps to his image. The beats were overhyped and the lyrics lacked creativity to say the least.

Comment: I peeped the album and it is a solid debut. Some crap tracks but some very good music on here as well. Not for everybody, but I can say that progressive hip hop fans would love it. It reminds me of Wale's debut, mixed results but overall good. Wiz is a promising young MC, give him a chance. It is dumbed down, but it is good music nonetheless. GREEN BAY IS LUCKY MY NY JETS DID NOT BEAT PITT AS THE MATCHUP WOULD HAVE BEEN BAD FOR GREEN BAY!

I've been a Green Bay Packers fan since 5th grade! Looking forward to hearing his official debut though... Wiz has been puttin in excellent mixtape work for YEARS, he deserves to get the kind of radio rotation he's gettin right now...
