The son of Guyanese immigrants, Decay is a founding member of the veteran hip hop collective, Green Llama Movement. Decay was born in Chicago. He has lived in its south, west, and north sides. Chicago is in his blood; he is a poet of its streets, an all-city emcee.
Decay started making music in 2005, when he released “In Retrospect,” his first solo album, a record of razor-edged lyrics and pro-black anthems. He played clubs. He worked on his rhymes. He toured. He grew. His second release was “Fluent & Decay Are City Slick: The Antique Black,” a side project created entirely through digital means. (He and Fluent, to this day, still haven’t met in person.
He later dropped an album with indie label Molemen Records, then formed a collective with various artist and friends called Machine Wash Music. There he released a second City Slick album entitled “The Money and His Fool” and a solo project ‘D’. “Acid Blue and Other Demons” is a dark conceptual album, that deals with people’s inner demons.
