Machine Gun Kelly aka MGK is not your average white rapper. Born in Houston and coming from a broken family, MGK is a product of his environment. He started rapping after watching DMX’s career grow and was named Machine Gun Kelly because his rapid-fire delivery at the age of 15 when he started doing shows. Settling in Cleveland, Ohio, MGK finished high school and was kicked out of his father’s house and forced to fend for himself. In 2009, MGK won back-to-back amateur nights at the Apollo Theater in New York. He was the first white rapper ever to win at the Apollo. In 2010, he was named Best Midwest Artist at the 2010 Underground Music Awards and had clearly made a name for himself. MGK was signed to Bad Boy Entertainment by Puffy and delivered a major record contract at Interscope Records. MGK won the MTVu Breaking Wodie Award when he attended SXSW in March of 2012. There he filmed the “Wild Boy Remix” music video featuring Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, French Montana, Mystikal, Steve-O and Yo Gotti. His first EP “Half Naked and Almost Famous” was released on April 24th, 2012 and has sold over 37,000 units. His upcoming album “Lace Up” will be released in October and includes the singles “Invincible” feat. Ester Dean and “Wild Boy” feat. Waka Flocka Flame.
