A lifelong resident of the Bay Area, Motion Man is an underground hip-hop icon with a deep catalog of work. He’s recorded extensively with Kool Keith and KutMasta Kurt, co-starring on classic LPs like Sex Style, Black Elvis, First Come, First Served, and Masters of Illusion. One of the first emcees featured on the Sway & Tech’s legendary Wake Up Show, he released his first record “Mo Like Flows On” back in the glory days of 1993.
In 2002, Motion unleashed his long awaited first solo album, Clearing The Field, produced entirely by Kurt with features from like-minded veterans E-40 and Biz Markie. He stayed on the grind with numerous collabos, compilations, and licensing deals, working with a diverse group of artists including Too Short, Del The Funky Homosapien, DJ Vadim, and Linkin Park. His well-received sophomore album Pablito’s Way dropped in 2006.
Known for his sly humor, intricate rhyme structures, and multiple voices, Motion Man is one of the most original and charismatic rappers working today. He continues to tour regularly and is constantly refining his style. Which brings us to his new concept album.
Adult Situations is all about scenarios one winds up in after graduating from the PG-13 years; lovemaking, lust, courtship, seduction and romance – whether with your wife, girlfriend, co-worker, neighbor or classmate.
Produced by San Francisco’s Unagi (who featured Motion on It Came From Beneath The SFC and Reinventing The Eel), and Philly newcomer Jethroe, the new album features guest appearances from longtime homie Lyrical C, and D’WYZE from much-revered San Francisco group The B.U.M.S. It also sports exclusive remixes from KutMasta Kurt and TomC3.
If you’re a hopeless romantic, ice-cold pimp, or just a devotee of classic hip-hop, Adult Situations has something for everyone. In today’s uncertain times, Motion Man comes through with a musical triumph.
