School of Architecture consists of the three kindred folks Dean Tippet, Falco Benz and Omar Rey, who are all members of the Dox Records family. And although they had their part in the creation of many Dox projects like Benny Sings, Giovanca, Roos Jonker and We’ll Make It Right, School of Architecture will certainly occupy it’s own distinctive place in the discography of this Dutch label. While some might recognize similarities to for example the playful sounds of Benny Sings, their sound tends to be more of a laidback and soulful affair. This combined with a DIY recording ethic makes the debut album a very interesting collection of songs who will keep your system occupied from beginning to end.
For their self-titled debut album, School of Architecture mostly recorded and played all instruments themselves, though for some particular songs they asked Rory Ronde (Kofi Anonymous, guitarist Wouter Hamel) to do what he does best: playing beautiful, melodic and jazzy guitar parts as a perfect completion for the sound this album.
