Description
"The type of beats Vanderslice and I excel at are big sounding, gangster shit, the type of sound Poet excels over." - Stu Bangas

If you're looking for grimy lyrics and production, Blaq Poet is your man. The Queensbridge, NYC native was first heard at age 17, on the track "Beat You Down" which was a diss song towards KRS-One and BDP during the Bridge Wars era. Blaq Poet went on to form the group Screwball with members Hostyle, KL & Solo, releasing their debut "Y2K The Album" in 2000 on Tommy Boy Records. He later on signed to DJ Premier's Year Round Record label, where he released "The Blaqprint" in 2009 with the majority of production handled by Premier himself. Still much affiliated with Premier's Year Round label, Blaq Poet aligned with Brick Records to release "Blaq Poet Society" in 2011, produced entirely by Stu Bangas and Vanderslice. From the flow, lyrics, features and production, the album delivered that grimy QB sound that hardcore hip-hop fans craved for. In 2013, Blaq Poet and Brutal Music's own Stu Bangas & Vanderslice connect again. Their upcoming project "Blaq Death" will be released on November 12 via Man Bites Dog Records. Fans can expect more hard-hitting, brutal production from Stu and Vander, backed by gritty street tales supplied by Blaq Poet.

The cold bleak days of winter have come upon us. In these dark times "Blaq Death" easily becomes the soundtrack. After the success of "Blaq Poet Society" he has teamed up once again with the brutal music's Stu Bangas and Vanderslice for "Blaq Death". To nail the coffin closed Blaq Poet reached out to Vinnie Paz, Chino XL, Celph Titled and Tradegy. The Album is dark and everything Blaq Poet fans are looking for.
