Description
In 1974, childhood friends Roland Treaudo and Manuel Herrera Jr. created the Family Underground from a cast of childhood friends and musical peers. After an unprecedented five-year residency at Whitey's Devil's Den in central New Orleans, the group separated. Shortly thereafter, Treaudo and Herrera pulled their favorite compositions from the Family Underground's funky songbook and recorded five of their most promising tunes with the aid of studio musicians. After shopping the songs unsuccessfully to Motown and Capitol, they gave the demo to a local entrepreneur named Eddie Stewart who allegedly burned all the tapes.

Never fully believing Stewart's story, Roland decided to contact Stewart's widow in August of 2005. Roland was able to recover the production masters, which miraculously found their way out of New Orleans with bandmate Herrera just days before Hurricane Katrina destroyed the group's collective Hollygrove birthplace.

"Nowhere to Run" b/w " Our Love's Gone By" are two spiritually conscious offerings from this talented ensemble. "Nowhere to Run" is an uplifting dance number, punctuated by infectious handclaps over the harmonized chorus. "Our Love's Gone By" is a gospel-inspired ballad, built on a foundation of vocal R&B and seasoned generously with Southern rock sensibilities.
