Description
Lazer Sword is a San Francisco-based live electronic act and production duo at the forefront of an emerging sound - a future music - fusing anything from rap, electro, dubstep, and grime together to form a new kind of club experience. On stage, Lazer Sword is a hands-on affair, evolving further with every performance. Atypical of most DJ/producer sets, Lazer Sword performs the material to the audience as a highly improvised live production showcase. Tried and true dance music with a flare for the boom-bap.

Due to their wide palette of influences and styles (the two share a love for all things hip hop, disco, psychedelic rock, electro, early synthesizer music, ghettotech, etc.), Lazer Sword can be found performing amongst many diverse line-ups. Often custom-preparing their set for each specific occasion, they've built themselves a name as a uniquely versatile act when it comes to booking. They have shared the stage with such acts as Flying Lotus, Megasoid, Eliot Lipp, MSTRKRFT, Trackademics, The Cool Kids, Chromatics, The Glitch Mob, Ghislain Poirier, Kid 606, Bassnectar, Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, The Gaslamp Killer and Cobra Krames. Recently showcased on Mary Anne Hobbs' distinguished BBC Radio 1 Experimental show, the duo toured Europe in early '09 to much success, headlining shows in cities such as London, Amsterdam, and Paris, and will be returning for another run in Oct/Nov.

Lazer Sword has built a substantial buzz by way of their live shows and numerous offerings online, including a slew of free remixes and their recently released mixtapes Blap To The Future, an XLR8R podcast and an exclusive mix for Ms. Hobbs' radio show. They've recently finished remix work for Machinedrum, STS9, Larytta and others.

"Gucci Sweatshirt," the slow-scorcher that many a Myspace fan has been drawn toward, is the first single from the upcoming full length. Written back in 2007, Lazer Sword releases the original version as well as an updated 2009 Electro mix. Neon Black (aka Machinedrum, producer for New York hipster-hopper Theophilus London) provides a reinterpreted acid-house version of the single for the club-patrons, while the sinister composition "Jet Black" reinforces the B side with it's haunting female chant.

As a whole, the 12" should provide a well-rounded glimpse into the often-unpredictable range of Lazer Sword's output, and a hint at what we might expect from this duo's upcoming full-length. With stunning sleeve artwork by Loren Purcell, the record will undoubtedly make itself at home in ones crate, or as pinned to the most diehard fans' bedroom wall.
