Few artists in New-York's vast sprawling independent scene can truly be called a complete artist, But if there's one mc that embodies the term, it is certainly L.I.F.E Long. As a member of the seminal Stronghold crew, L.I.F.E quickly became recognized as an undeniable force on the independent hip hop scene. Standing out in a crew that countains indie phenomena like C-Rayz Walz (Def Jux), fan fave Breez Evah Flowin and rhyme rebel Immortal Technique, is no easy feat, but L.I.F.E Long succeeds effortlessly, making his presence felt with every live and recorded performance. Straddling the linest between classic boom bap and the edgier avant-garde hip-hop music that emerged on the lower east side of the late 90's, L.I.F.E made stand-out appearances on a number of crucial projects. Appearing on such classic albums as Antipop Consortium's "Tragic Epilogue" with Pharaoe Monch, and the record that ushered in a new area, Cannibal Ox's "The Cold Vein" was just an appetizer.
While slinging his classic mixtape "Cuts and Collabos" out side of Fat Beats and venues all around NYC, he found time to lace even more critically acclaimed projects including Mike Ladd's Majesticons LP "Beauty Party" (Big Dada / Ninja Tune) in 2003 which lead to L.I.F.E. taking a trek across Europe steadily increasing his fan base. In the background, L.I.F.E. Long was also keeping a furious pace with his crew moving mix-tapes, shows, open-mics, collaborations and working in the lab cooking up EP's and his own debut disc "Struggle Paradise".
After countless shows and collaborations with Aesop Rock, Prince Poetry, Immortal Technique, Zion I, Mike Ladd, Scienz of life, Killah Priest from the Wu-Tang and High Priest from Audio Airborn to name a few, it was time for L.I.F.E to work on his first real solo album after signing with european labels On The Corner / Ascetic Music. Starting quickly the writing process of His new project he's given birth to "Longevity Volume 1.5", a dark and moody tour through the artist vision of urban decay, political unrest and daily strife.
