Description
Born Travis Stewart, Machinedrum has produced and composed several albums under various aliases since his first independent release in 1999. Covering an astonishing variety of styles with ease, he has always been a trailblazer - bridging the gap between genres that would otherwise never have met before.

His debut "Now You Know", was released in 2001 on the influential Miami based Merck Records and gained worldwide attention and praise from musicians, fans and critics. It was heralded as the "standard to which the newxt wave of imitators aspires", by Pitchfork.

Having a strong background in both acoustic and electronic instrumentation, he dances between those elements on all his releases. This can be heard in the field recording and vintage synth laden Urban Biology to his seminal production and mixing of the This Charming Mixtape with Theophilus London. His critically acclaimed 2009 album "Want to 1 2?" was the latest showcase of his most recent production ... a new and bold take on electronic music.

Machinedrum is often referred to as the man of many faces due to the fact that he records and performs under different aliases. His darker and more bass heavy, persoana, Neon Black, has done remixes on Lazer Sword's "Gucci Sweatshirt" while under the name Sepalcure, he released this summer's highly sought after EP on Hotflush among friend and collaborator Preveen Sharma.

Although "Want to 1 2?" was praised by the few that heard it, the album never did get the proper shine that it was warranted. A gem from the album, "Let It" featuring fellow New York vocalist Melo-X is being released as a vinyl 12 inch single on Innovative Leisure. The record features remixes by San Francisco's Lazer Sword and Los Angeles's Edit.
