Description
Boston's top two emcees Akrobatik and Mr. Lif, team up with DJ Fakts One to form the Perceptionists on their long awaited full length debut Black Dialogue. While this is their first official outing as a group, the three Perceptionists have been putting it down together at shows and on records for years. Unlike past solo efforts, Black Dialogue is not bogged down in politics. For instance, it's great to hear these often serious emcees flip the script with an uplifting, yet body moving jam, alongside Guru and Camu Tao on "Party Hard." In the same vein, everyone can relate to "5'Oclock" where we find Phonte soulfully singing the hook, while Lif and Ak revel in the relief of finishing the work day and finally being able to do for self. We even find the Perceptionists teaming up with the legendary Shock G to provide tired emcee's tips on finding more suitable occupations on "Career Finders." While DJ Fakts One is the group's main man on the wheels of steel, additional production comes from El-P, Cyprus The Great, Willie Evans Jr. and Camu Tao. To hear the first official collaboration from the cats who have been defining Boston hip-hop, and moreover, politically and socially conscious hip-hop since the late 90's, cop the soon-to-be classic Black Dialogue from UGHH.com and receive a free poster and sticker.
